Dwight's Beach Concession, established in 1932, is the original and first beach concession in Huntington Beach, California.

Dwight Clapp foresaw tourism as Huntington Beach's future and after noticing a need for cold drinks and umbrella rentals, he opened a small concession in the back of the original HB lifeguard tower.

 

After moving buildings twice, Dwight's now happily resides in it's current building and after surviving a nearly devastating fire in January 2025, it has been renovated and is ready for the next 100 years!

Dwight's has been delighting guests with our world famous cheese strips

and sauce for decades.

Did you know, 'It's all about the sauce!'?

 

After slicing and frying tortilla chips over 70 years ago, Dwight responded to his customers' requests for a sauce to pour over the chips. He got to work and developed what is to-this-day our famous strip sauce! (Its recipe is still the same all these years later!).

 

A tomato based tangy sauce with a slight kick, the strip sauce has been captivating guests since the 1950's. He added cheese about 60 years ago and ever since then this perfect beach snack has taken off!

It's not a complete trip to Huntington Beach if you don't try Dwight's famous cheese strips and sauce.

Dwight's son, Jack pictured here, has been running Dwight's since the mid 1970's and is now passing his beloved business to his son, Rich. The Clapp family is thrilled for the next generations to continue the legacy. 

 

We offer a classic beach menu, equipment rentals (bikes, surfboards, wetsuits and more!) and have a unique Gift Shop that is worth a visit just for it's homage to Dwight's almost 100 year history!
